Deliver Nourishing Meals to Seniors in Schenectady

The Meals on Wheels Program is committed to the belief that all seniors have the right to live independently with dignity and respect in their own homes for as long as it is safely possible.  It is our mission to provide isolated homebound seniors in Schenectady with nutritious meals, daily human contact, and supportive services to prevent their premature institutionalization. The food, companionship, safety checks, and other support we provide are vital services for seniors who want to continue living in their own homes but cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves. Our network of drivers, social workers, nutritionists, community partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates are a formidable force against senior neglect and malnutrition. We believe in delivering more than a meal - we are nourishing the whole person.

Fulfilling Volunteer Opportunity!

Catholic Charities Senior and Caregiver Support Services has a fulfilling volunteer opportunity for those who want to help caregivers reduce their stress and improve their quality of life.  Become trained by certified staff to co-facilitate the Stress-Busting Program (SBP) for Family Caregivers.  The SBP is an evidence-base program that provides support to family caregivers.  It is a multi-component program where facilitators meet with small groups of caregivers, to focus on holistic approaches to address the emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive needs of the caregivers.  The next facilitator training is being scheduled for April 2018! To learn more about how you can be a part of this volunteer opportunity and training, please contact Erin Szesnat at (518) 372-5667.
